Peeking by Greta Elizabeth Muirhead.
Beside the creek all dressed in white, Beside and saw quite a site… The princess stood staring, peeking, waiting, for something to happen. When she turned she saw something there, Beyond the creek, shining so blue, Is somebody under there, who are you? she asked. The thing under the creek groaned “why are the trees heavy laden with snow? and the princess answered I really don’t know. The little star high in the sky, told the little owl where to fly. The owl said what is the sound of a distant drum? Where is it coming from? The drum was an army for the Princess, they looked around for something to eat, while a little dwarf ate a treat. The dwarf said to the army, My toes love the the feel of warm, soft sand but I like being on the land. The Princess wanted to take a walk, so she walked through a dense, green forest, and she suddenly saw a interesting animal that has bright green eyes, and a icy, frost blue fur. Then she realized it was a “Frost Fox!”
The Dwarf was carrying a load of firewood from the woodshed to his family’s red and white mushroom house, when he tripped over something in the dark that he knew wasn’t there before. The thing is soft, fluffy, and has a white strip down its back. Just then the Dwarfs mother opened the door, and screamed “Thats a Skunk honey, run!!!” Then the so called skunk, barked. Just as the mother shouted “thats a skunk honey run,” The Princess came along and shouted “thats no skunk thats my dog, JoJo!” The Dwarf answered “why does your dog look like a skunk my lady?” “Bark” said JoJo.
“JoJo shush and come” said the princess of no name. When the princess got hungry, the Dwarf and his mother invited her to brunch. They had a batch of hoecakes, all brown and crispy, a dozen pieces of bacon, and a pot of hot sassafras tea still warm from the night before. The dwarf and his mother were very generous because the even let JoJo have some of the bacon and hoecakes. Then the princes took her other dog, Rowdy, for a walk with JoJo. The princes invited the dwarf to come but he said I have work to do, oh and be back by nightfall we are having a party!!!
MaryEllen and Granny Allen rose early that saturday morning in order to get a good start.“For I hate to be late for anything.” Granny said, “no matter what, a party or a burying. If I go, I want to be on time!
